The V International Summit of Economic cooperation of Russia and the OIC countries – KAZANSUMMIT 2013 hold in Kazan on May 15-17 will host the opening of the Russian branch of the Alumni Association of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).
One of the peculiarities of IIUM is the international atmosphere where about 40 % of its students are foreigners from 106 countries of the world, including from Russia.
When graduates of the International University finish their studies, they travel around the world and achieve high levels in their countries. Among such graduates are Fong Po Kuan, Member of Parliament in Malaysia, Mohamed Hassan, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Kelantan, Amanyla Ceyhun, Ph. D, the current Ambassador of Afghanistan in Australia and many others.
Official Alumni Associations of IIUm exist in Thailand, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, the Maldive Islands, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Singapore. Alumni Associations are also opened in Turkey, China, Nigeria, Philippines, Yemen, Brunei, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Gambia and UAE.
The opening of the Russian branch of the Alumni Association will allow the strengthening of the ties of Russia and Russian graduates with IIUM, Malaysia and other countries where graduates live and work.
The opening of the Russian Association will occur within the framework of a round table KAZANSUMMIT where Rectorates of Malaysian and Russian universities will discuss the current issues of education and prospects of cooperation in the field of education.
For reference: The International Islamic University in Malaysia is a joint venture of the Government of Malaysia and the Organization of Islamic Conference (now the Organization of Islamic Cooperation).
Created by Islamic principles with the aim to become a leading Islamic training institution in the world, the International University was opened on May 23, 1983. Today IIUM consists of 13 faculties and offers different undergraduate, graduate programs and courses in PhD.
University is on the 7th line according to Malaysia Top University Ranking in the ranking of Malaysia for 2012.
English is the language of instruction, but Arabic is used in the teaching of courses related to the study of Islamic sciences such as theology, law and ethics. The study of Arabic is also a requirement, even for foreign students.
